Good Ole K-Town

My childhood was magic. Pure magic.  In large part because of Bill and Coco. Iconic duo. Grandparents extraordinaire.  I don't have the adequate adjectives right now to describe them. Someday I'll write a whole book dedicated to their characteristics and lives. I spent four perfect days with them and my mom and dad and siblings last week. Bill is recovering from hip surgery like Superman. And my dad's parents, Grandma and Grandpa. They're equally good and magical and kind and generous and fun and caring. My grandma was in an awful accident at the end of the summer and used one of her nine lives to survive and thrive. Xanthe let me use her fancy new eye liner on her and I think she looks fierce! Tizzy (I mean Tamantha, Tammy for short) did our nails at her salon My dad and his incomparable book collection at his law office (he also has a huge bookcase at his home) -- he even has a section dedicated to books we've read in our Father-Daughter bookclub For Xanthe's...

Nick: the preeminent, eternal, assumed, irrevocable reason. Good books. I am finishing up By Any Other Name and it is simply stunning. It did lead to an existential breakdown as to my own novel-in-progress being a helpless hack job, but mostly I am inspired. And completely convinced William Shakespeare was a fraud! IYKYK. I am also happy that those "Shakespearean" works exist though. I want to dig into them again with my fully formed prefrontal cortex. I'll probably get a whole lot more of out the works without high school distractions. Flowers. Even if they sag as soon as I place them in my favorite minty-teal vase. Windows and changing weather! How cute that humans invented windows. They are like little frames for nature's art Trips. Nick and I are sooooooo grateful to be able to plan a vacation for spring break. I think we deserve it. Rio de Janeiro here we come EEK Good food. I'm grateful to have access to good food as well as an appetite and role models who h...

State of the World

So far it's been a devastating year for many Americans, myself included. The new President has done, claimed, said/posted online, and passed many things that hurt me and those I love. For example, my favorite outreach program at work: Music & Motion. This program offers children with disabilities the opportunity to dance -- really dance! -- with the assistance of ceiling track harnesses and volunteers. The parents never dreamed their child would be in a ballet class like this, participating and performing. The physical therapist and dancers who lead M&M are salt of the earth. The program is funded in part by an NEA grant that Trump might pull...there's a lot of unknowns right now...we just don't know. ICE is in just about every neighborhood and is authorized to GO INTO SCHOOLS. Citizens have been comparing the strategies Trump is using to a quote by Anne Frank that describes the beginning of the Holocaust. It is appalling. Books, including a children's book abo...
