Here I Am

 Hello little blog, I've missed you.

I find journaling and writing to be cathartic but don't often make time for it. I LOVE reading the blog my mother kept while I was growing up. I too want to document my life (whether for posterity or for my little family of three: Nick, Woody, and myself).

So I'm back on Blogger!

To catch up...

  • I graduated from Utah Valley University summa cum laude in Art History and received the Award of Merit for the art department
  • I got married to my soulmate and had an intimate pandemic wedding in my grandparents' magical yard
  • I worked for four years at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art. Intern > Visitors Service Manager > Education Director
  • I went to Paris with my parents and some sibs, went to Paris with Nick and Coco and Bill, visited Ruby in Alicante, Spain where Nick surprised me in the airport, went back to Hong Kong for the first time since my mission this spring with Ruby--we also went to Bangkok
  • Got a tattoo (!) on my 26th birthday in Mexico City
  • Lost a best friend, Victoria, this past summer. I mourn her every day but it also still feels surreal
  • We moved to DC and spent a few months living with in-laws
  • We moved to a fabulous neighborhood and curated our apartment with FB Marketplace gems and artwork
  • Landed a job as Registrar at Maryland Youth Ballet
  • Continued working on my debut novel (at a snail's pace)
I lot happens in five years.

 My childhood was magic. Pure magic.  In large part because of Bill and Coco. Iconic duo. Grandparents extraordinaire.  I don't have the adequate adjectives right now to describe them. Someday I'll write a whole book dedicated to their characteristics and lives. I spent four perfect days with them and my mom and dad and siblings last week. Bill is recovering from hip surgery like Superman. And my dad's parents, Grandma and Grandpa. They're equally good and magical and kind and generous and fun and caring. My grandma was in an awful accident at the end of the summer and used one of her nine lives to survive and thrive. Xanthe let me use her fancy new eye liner on her and I think she looks fierce!  Greetings friends and family! Whether December is your presumptuous friend who can't keep promises or a nostalgic pen-pal that always delivers, we hope you are at least enjoying cozy drinks, blankets, and music. We've had a beautiful and challenging year including new jobs, a new apartment, a sister trip to Hong Kong (Golda's mission location), glorious walks with Woody, trips to Utah, visits from family, date nights, and more... We are grateful for each and every one of you. Whether we connected over social media, in person, bonded over books, commiserated on the global events of this year, shared laughs or good food, or reminisced. We thought of you and recognize how you have shaped our lives.
